Community Business Manager

Job Description

To manage the business of Winsford Youth and Community Forum and maximise the usage of the New Images building for community activities . This position will be for a 5 year contract, though this period may be extended subject to funding availability.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Implement and direct key performance indicators as outlined in the Business Plan
  • Participate in WYCF strategic planning procedures
  • Lead the WYCF operational staff team to plan and deliver operational practice
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the operational practice
  • Network with, and provide support to, relevant groups and individuals
  • Attend Partnership meetings
  • Manage the security of the building
  • Ensure and monitor DATA protection procedures are in place
  • Develop optimisation of room space, rental income and resources
  • Line Management and Supervision
  • Supervision and appraisal of operational and business teams
  • In liaison with the Management Team, to identify and pursue funding streams
  • Recruit and retain forum staff
  • Manage the Forum’s complaints procedure
  • Maintain an oversight of staff discipline
  • Allocate and monitor resources
  • Monitor budget management

Board of Trustees – through the Chair

Working Hours & Holidays

Full Time – 35 hours per week – to include some evening and weekend work

Holidays 20 days + 8 Bank Holidays

Job Grade & Salary Range

Grade 7/8

£27,905 Per Annum

Historically Winsford Youth & Community Forum has provided Playschemes during the school holidays. Please see our Playschemes section of our website for full details of the scheme. We are therefore seeking appointments for the following positions

Playscheme Workers

Location: New Images Winsford, Wharton Library, a local school or Winsford Marina

Playscheme Catering Worker

Location: New Images Winsford, Wharton Library or a local school

  • Excellent punctuality and time management following our reporting procedures if there are any issues in attending work

Working periods & pay

Playscheme Worker

Working Hours: 10:00 am 3:00 pm daily, inclusive of 1 hour for lunch break
Dates: July – August 2020 – Note candidates must be available for all 4 weeks
Hourly rate – £8.50

Playscheme Catering Worker

Working Hours: 11:30 am – 1:30 pm Monday to Friday
Dates: July – August 2020 – Note candidates must be available for all 4 weeks
Hourly rate – £8.50

Job Descriptions

Playscheme Worker – Generally this role involves the following:

To help deliver stimulating, fun and inclusive play opportunities to children aged 8 -11 (12 when accompanying a younger sibling ) who are attending our integrated Playschemes. You will work as a team alongside other play workers and your team leader, to facilitate the successful delivery of the Playschemes.

Specific Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Team leadership
  • Organising and planning various play activities
  • Assistance in dealing in the physical needs of children where appropriate
  • Supervising and ensuring the safety of children at all times
  • Encouraging children to take part in activities , whilst respecting their freedom of choice
  • Encouraging and supporting children to develop friendships with their peers
  • Familiarisation with the WYCF safety policy and guidelines, as well as those in our other venues including our approach to diversity and its place in the local and wider community
  • Completion of induction training and associated relevant training, prior to commencement
  • Working as part of a team with Play Workers, Leaders and Coordinators
  • Manage any children’s behavior in an inclusive and proactive way to prevent any exclusion.

Playscheme Catering Worker – Generally this role involves the following:

Preparing light lunches and refreshments for 8 to 11 year old young people attending our playschemes. Serving lunch and supervision whilst they are eating and clearing away afterwards, together with cleaning the kitchen.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Experience of preparing healthy food with children and young people
  • Knowledge of healthy nutrition, which can be given to the young people
  • Hygiene certificate level 2 is desirable, but not a prerequisite to your application
  • Experience of working with children and young people
  • Help deal with the physical needs of children where appropriate.
  • Supervising and ensuring the safety of the children at all times.
  • Completion of induction training and associated relevant training, prior to commencement
  • Familiarisation with the WYCF safety policy and guidelines, as well as those in our other venues including our approach to diversity and its place in the local and wider community
  • Working as part of a team with Play Workers, Leaders and Coordinators
